So tonight was the GCH/Emery/As Cities Burn/Gatsby's show. I only wanted to see GCH but I wanted to make sure I got there early enough so it wouldn't sell out and I could be up front. I left school about 10 till 6 and got down there and in line at around 6:20 because I had to drive around and find a meter. Thank god all the Cardinals fans were leaving so that freed up some meters for me to horribly parallel park in. hahah I never got my car right against the curb but I was within the lines so who cares.
Waited in line in the cold for about 40 mins. There were kids there with spaghetti strapped tops on and complaining about how cold it was. Um, here's a hint. If it's cold when you leave your house, chances are it's going to be cold when you get to the venue. DUH! God. Fucking retards.
Got in and got my over 21 wristband with no trouble. The guy at the door was confused and kept thinking I had tickets on will call and I was trying to tell him that I wanted a wristband and he seemed shocked that I was 21 but didn't give me any trouble. They put the wristband on super tight though which kind of irritated me.
Got to the side of the stage and got a good spot. Waited FOREVER for the show to start. I don't think they started until well after 7:30. I didn't know how they intended to get the show over in time for the late show at 11. As Cities Burn came on at like 7:45 probably and I thought they were pretty bad. All the kids that liked them seriously thought they were at a hardcore show. *UM WRONG!* I saw one kid doing the metal riff fingers. These kids were thrashing around. All these kids were wearing their shirts but not singing along. Tools.
Gym Class Heroes was next and the crowd just HATED them :( it made me sad. I felt so bad for them. I've never seen a crowd so not into them before. Hardly anyone knew anything. These drunk whores were sloshing around behind me and pushing these dudes into me and that wasn't pleasant. Some kid tried to start shit with Travis. Travis made his speech about hip hop and the trend of music and all this bullshit they try to feed us and how it's all garbage about spinners and babes over and over and over again and this kid gave him the finger like "ah man fuck you!" That passive aggressive technique that does nothing. So then Travis is like "Yea whatever fuck you too man." He gets in this kid's face and sings the first verse of "Kid Nothing Vs The Echo Factor" just spitting lines at him. It was amazing. This kid was OWNED. This kid is still giving Travis the finger and Travis puts his middle finger in the kid's face and the kids FUCKING SPITS IN TRAVIS' FACE! I can't believe Travis was able to hold himself back. I give him mad props for that one. If it was me I would have been all over that kid like flies on honey. Finally Travis is like "Look at this kid. He's the prime example of what you don't want to be. Make sure you graduate from middle school."
After that I ran into Deidre and Meg and fell onto people and it was basically like running into everyone all at once. I went back to my car to get the Gorillaz stuff to give to Deidre and the posters I needed to put up for Equal Vision and on my way back to the venue these drunk dudes in a truck across the street started yelling at me. First it started out as "Hey! where you going?" and I looked at them and ignored them and kept looking forward and didn't pay any attention to them and then I heard "want a ride?" (note: what SMART girl ACTUALLY gets into a car with guys she doesn't know? I mean, come on.) and then when they realized I wasn't going to respond they started calling me whore and slut. I honestly thought they were going to pull over and kidnap me at some point had they not turned and gone the other way. Normally I would mouth off to these types of guys but considering I was walking on a street by myself and there was no one around to do anything should something have happened to me I wasn't going to open my mouth and give them any reason to do anything. If it was at a show or I was in my car it would have been a completely different story.
I went back in and had a hard time getting back to the back and had to squeeze and maneuver through the crowd (worst thing EVER but not so bad when you're small) and ran into Meg again and then gave Deidre her stuff and put my posters up and got me a new GCH shirt :D It's the decorative shirt. I really liked the simple livin shirt too.
Went outside and called Katy and I had decided that I needed someone to walk me back to my car. I didn't see anyone with a wristband on my way out the door (note: males only apply) and then I went out back and I saw some dudes loading stuff in and felt kind of weird asking them but Matt from Gym Class looked up at me and smiled and I asked if he would mind walking me back to my car since I had an incident earlier and he said "of course not!" He was really nice about it and I told him I'd drive him back to the venue. So we walked back to my car and discussed their set tonight and that shitty kid in the front and I told him how it's kind of futile to heckle a band because whether you like them or not, at the end of the night, they still got your money and they still get paid either way. He told me he was glad that I bought the shirt that I did because he really liked that design. We talked a little bit about Panic and the FOB shirt I was wearing. That's my little bit of name dropping. He was really nice and properly introduced himself to me. Perfect gentleman.
