So last night was the Simple Plan/MCS/Sugarcult/MXPX show. I took an entire roll of film with my awesome zoom lens that I need to get developed tomorrow and get change for laundry.
Adam and I left school around 4:30 and went and got some hot cocoa/cappuccino and then went and stood in line for half in an hour at the Pageant. The only part of my body that was cold was my face and hands. Stupid me for not bringing any gloves. *bangs head against wall* We got inside around 6:15 and I got my camera in like no problem. There were no seats left so we went and stood behind the row of seats right in the direct center of the stage. We had awesome spots. Motion City Soundtrack came on first and they kicked ass. All these stupid 12 year olds were screaming for them even though they had no idea who the fuck they were. Losers. They got really entertained when the moog player did handstands on his keyboard/synth. I think I was the only one there representing the MCS shirt. They played all my favorite songs including "My Favorite Accident" which made me happy. I was kinda surprised that they didn't play "The Future Freaks Me Out."
Sugarcult came on next and they were excellent as well. I can't believe they haven't come out with new material in 3 years. I would personally hate having to play the same shit over and over again for 3 years. They only played two new songs, one of which was "Memory" which I know because it's on the Punk Goes Acoustic CD. It sounds way sad acoustically. It's weird to hear acoustic songs with an entire band. Their old drummer is still in rehab apparently. Their old drummer used to scare me. He was such a cokehead. It seems as if the boys have cleaned up their image a bit. Tim didn't look as hot as he had in the past. During their set they had Bryce from A Rocket Summer come out and sing part of "Pretty Girl" with them. The kid has such a high voice it's ridiculous. He seems all hyper.
Simple Plan came on next and all the little girls went crazy. I noticed that throughout the entire show not that many people knew all the words like I did. I think they only came to see "Addicted", "Perfect", and "I'm Just a Kid." How lame. There was this little 5 year old there with his SP shirt on and he had wristbands on each arm and he was rocking out and singing the words to every song. It was so cute. These kids in front of us were giving SP the finger every chance they got. It was so lame. You knew that Simple Plan was going to be playing tonight so you could have had the option of coming later to catch MXPX but you didn't so shut the fuck up. They played "Happy Together" and some song off the DVD that I've never heard before along with a medley of Black Eyed Peas "Where is the Love?" and Pink's "Get this Party Started." Their rendition of "Where is the Love?" was pretty good. They played the majority of the songs on the CD including the song I hate "Meet You There." They didn't play "My Alien" of course and with good reason.
MXPX came on and we didn't stay too long through their set. I didn't recognize any of the songs they played and I didn't want to sit through songs I didn't know to hear the ones I do know plus I was starving. Mike Herrera looks like Pete in a certain light. He definitely looked yummy last night. RAWR!
